“This weekend was soul stirring!” – Carolina Hinojosa-Cisneros

Tintero Projects recently hosted a wonderful all female poetry reading and we hope you were there to be a part of the magic and the history. Here are some highlights of that wonderful day!

On May 13, 2017 our No Ban, No Wall: Women Writers Unite reading and writing workshop was held at Inprint Houston.

Lena Khalaf Tuffaha (Author of the chapbook Arab in Newsland and poetry collection Water & Salt) kicked off our writing workshop with prayer bead poems, self-portrait poems, and variety of creative exercises to get writing participants engaged and excited. Participants, read work by authors of color, wrote and shared their own writing.

“The workshop was one of the coolest and most beautiful ones I’ve ever been to.” – Cristina Martinez

Later that evening, our intimate and lovely reading featured work by Cristina Martinez, Carolina Hinojosa-Cisneros and our feature all the way from Seattle, Lena Khalaf Tuffaha. All three writers shared beautiful and inspiring work about their lives as immigrants and women of color and afterwards, our Founder, Lupe Mendez lead the crowd and the writers in a Q & A session.

We capped off the night with a lovely reception and book signing, and everyone in our audience was left wanting for more. We do hope to bring back all three of these writers in the future and this reading and workshop event could not have been made possible without the sponsorship of Poets & Writers, and without the moral support of our venue sponsor Inprint House. THANK YOU!

We hope to see you all at our upcoming readings and open mic series…STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS!!!

“The poets you had last night! Oh my goodness!! AMAZING!”- Emily Miller
